"Love is friendship that has caught fire. It is quiet understanding, mutual confidence, sharing and forgiving. It is loyalty through good and bad times. It settles for less than perfection and makes allowances for human weaknesses.”
Ann Landers
If you can find someone who makes you laugh... I mean really double over, pee in your pants laugh, put your hand out to that person and call them friend. Audrey, that is what you and Kendall do for each other. You are so silly in an unihibited way that you can only be with someone you trust with everything. You have created a world together that others don't recognize. Like that crazy voice you two have perfected, you know the one that drives us mad and tickles us all at the same time. When you get the chance to spend the night together or go home together after school to study it is like someone has handed you the moon. You can't get enough of each other because you "get" each other. I love how Kendall protects Audrey from the kids that use bad language. She has been known to step right up to a boy in PE and say, "hey, you don't say that to her! She doesn't watch the shows you do so she doesn't know all that nasty language!". And the way you beat up on each other and love every minute of it!
The best is when you act like old ladies with your canes and squinty eyes, and even old lady gas! When you come in the kitchen while I am making supper and you are in "granny" mode and you say "So what is for dinner honey pie? Eh, I couldn't hear you...was that feetloaf? Oh, we gotta run before we get the runs. Yes, let's go Mardel..you know we gotta go take a pill or something". I tell you that stuff just cracks me up! I could watch your comedy routine til the meatloaf is burnt!
So the other day Mr. Williams' spots me in the hall and says, "I think Audrey is going to be upset today because she caused Kendall to get in trouble in my class. She was talking to Kendall but when I turned around I only saw Kendall talking and sent her out into the hall. Audrey came up and said Mr. Williams it was really me who was doing all the talking". The rest of the day I thought of all the things I was going to need to do to help the girls straighten it out. I know how much it hurts Audrey when Kendall is sad with her, so I wanted to put a patch on this and make it all better. What a pleasant surprise I had that afternoon when I got to basketball practice and expected to see Audrey with "that" face. But no! Audrey had already apologized and Kendall had graciously forgiven her buddy. My one hope is that the two of you will be forever friends and you won't have to pretend to by grandmas, you really will be, and you'll still be making each other laugh.
